Short summary of the challenge.

17th August 2020
It has been 6 days since we finished, although the legs still ache a bit I can now walk up and down stairs and I thought would put a summary of the day on here. I am so proud of and so happy that Lucy took on the challenge with me - couldn’t have done it without her. It was really tough at times for both of us but also a great experience to take it on together. I hope Mum/Gran would have been proud of us and we like to think she was looking out for us on the day including keeping the thunder and lightning away. Thanks Mum for this and everything you have ever done for us! During the day we met some lovely people whether it was just a hello/good morning or chats to people about our challenge and charity. The range of people you meet helped make it a memorable day, other walkers happy to talk or take our photos at the summits including 2 nice guys who then donated £15 after taking our photo on top of Cader Idris, families walking, other people taking on their own challenge, a couple of paragliders who were keen to talk about Parkinson’s UK when they saw our t shirts before they launched themselves off the top of Snowdon - (I hope they were OK after their landing half way down). We really enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone. Big thanks to Julie for all her support during the training walks, the preparation and while we were away - we couldn’t have done it without you. Several people have commented that we will have memories that last a lifetime which is absolutely true. There are too many laughs and memories to list but I think the one that I will treasure most is when it was really hard and we were so tired towards the top of Snowdon we were able to carry due on due to our collective encouragement and determination to complete the challenge in memory of Mum - and the sense of achievement when we reached the summit made it a real proud and emotional Dad moment for me. Thanks to Lucy for taking on the challenge with me and being an amazing daughter and granddaughter. If anyone is considering taking something like this on I would say it is definitely worth doing and if you wanted any info then please let me know. Huge thanks to everyone who has messaged/donated/taken an interest in our challenge and this great charity it has made it a brilliantly emotional experience and I really hope a fitting tribute to our Mum and Gran. At last check with donations already made (£1.5k currently) and promised I expect to have raised well over £2k including £500 matched giving from work which makes it all worthwhile so again to all our family and friends. THANK YOU! Jamie

Some stats from our challenge

Bit more info for anyone that is interested in stats from our challenge, having tracked it now we walked a total of 17.78 miles and climbed a total of 7955 feet ascent, iphone says 50311 steps plus 140 miles driven!
